Our History

History of Michelangelo's Coffee  Shop & Wine Bar: Norman, OK
(Possible say the idea for a coffee shop/wine bar in Norman, OK all started… ) It all started with my dad, Pete Palermo.  He was truly an entrepreneur extraordinaire.  He was raised on along the coastal waters of Texas near Galveston Island.  His parents brought the family here from Sicily in the early 1900s, raised nine children, and became business owners immediately. (Maybe… dad didn’t have a coffee shop/wine bar)My dad had a barbershop, drugstore, grocery store, liquor store and a restaurant.  He also spent a short time in the bootlegging industry. I inherited his nomadic business style, but on a much smaller scale.
In 1969, he wanted to help me start a restaurant of my own, so we set out to do just that. We found the perfect location, wrote out the restaurant menu, and there was the first incarnation of the current Michelangelos Coffee Shop and Wine Bar creation. Unfortunately a month later he was diagnosed with leukemia and died very quickly. My dream of having my own restaurant / coffee shop stayed only a dream for the next 36 years.  I did not have the guts nor the capital to take the plunge…within that time my son Pete was born and daughter Lori was soon to arrive.
I spent 30 years selling real estate in Houston, my hometown.  But my dream of combining a restaurant with (maybe include gift basket, venue or one other main keyword here) gourmet coffee and wine lived on. The nomad in me escaped once again and I moved to Denver, Colorado. This is when I knew it was time to follow my passion… FOOD & WINE. Michelangelos Coffee Wine Bar Bistro was created March 24, 2005. It evolved, from its menu to its décor, constantly.
The nomadic beast in me raised its head again, except this time the beast found his Beauty in Norman, Oklahoma. I met Paula and within six months we were married, partners in business and life.  Paula was planning on moving with me to Denver; however, the Norman, OK Public School District learned of her, where she is now the principal at Lakeview Elementary.  Norman, OK was even a more perfect fit, as her son Travis and daughter Tonya live here.  With eight grandchildren, it is a full house.  We sold Michelangelo's Coffee Wine Bar Bistro in Denver, moved to Norman, OK and opened Michelangelo's gourmet Coffee Shop and Wine Bar.
Paula and I hope you always have a pleasant experience at Michelangelos (in Norman, OK). Whether it’s for a cup of our gourmet coffee or a piece of our gourmet chocolate, a wine flight chosen from our eclectic wine selection, a gift basket filled with delectable treats hand-packed just for you, a charming dining experience in our restaurant, or to use us as a venue for your private party needs, we hope you will visit often and bring your friends.
The last paragraph is great for key wording but the higher up in the paragraph the keywords are the more important Google and other search engines see them. Obviously key wording the beginning of this content is not going to look or read as well but its something to think about and consider when writing content for other areas of the site.
